The British Crown Jewels have a long and glorious past. From as early as 200 B.C., the British monarchs wore a crown and other jewelry to mark their station in life. Today, the jewels are housed in a vault at the Tower of London opened in 1994 by Queen Elizabeth II. The vault houses a collection of more than 100 objects and 23,578 diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Although our Gold Jewel Acrylic Award may never be kept in the Tower of London, anyone lucky enough to receive one will think it is priceless.
