Originally part of the United States Army, the United States Air Force was formed as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947. It is one of the world’s most technologically advanced air forces. Within the USAF, a dozen core functions have developed including Nuclear Deterrence Operations, Global Precision Attack, and ten other responsibilities. As the newest branch of the military, the USAF has fewer traditions than some other military branches, so we suggest starting a new tradition: use our Air Force Seal Plaque, item #HER221, to honor airmen. This sleek stainless steel plaque measures over a foot tall (10.5″ x 13″) and weighs nearly two pounds.
